Manufacturing That Calculates Product Cost and Stock for You
The Saldofy manufacturing module connects recipes (BOM), work orders, material reservation, labour time and overhead into one flow — the cost of the finished product and the general ledger entries come from production itself, not from manual work afterwards.
From recipe to work order without a spreadsheet
Every finished product gets a multi-level recipe (BOM) with components, quantities and scrap percentage. When a work order is created the recipe is frozen, material is reserved from stock and progress is tracked by quantity — you see immediately how far the product is and what is missing.
Work orders live in the same system as inventory and accounting, so stock decreases and finished goods are received without separate data entry.
The manufacturing workflow from start to finish
- 01Build the recipe (BOM) with components, quantities and scrap percentage
- 02Create the work order — material is reserved and stock entries are created automatically
- 03Register labour time by work centre and operation — also on mobile, by scanning
- 04Track completion — a capacity-based ETA forecast tells you when the order will be ready
- 05Receive finished goods — product cost and WIP entries are posted to the general ledger automatically
Manufacturing, inventory and finance in the same logic
Recipes and work orders
A multi-level BOM, the work order lifecycle and the material shortage view keep manufacturing plannable and under control.
Labour and capacity
Work centres, routings and labour time registration give a real-time capacity picture and a completion forecast.
Product cost and accounting
Product cost = material + labour + overhead. WIP and finished goods entries are posted to the general ledger automatically.
Grows with your production
As the need grows, the same module already covers MRP purchase suggestions for missing raw material, serial numbers and label printing (ZPL, Code128), quality control points and non-conformities, a Gantt chart with operation dependencies, and equipment maintenance (CMMS) with maintenance costs posted into accounting.

Frequently asked questions
Is manufacturing connected to inventory and accounting?
Yes. A work order reserves material from stock, finished goods are received into inventory and WIP and product cost entries are posted to the general ledger in the same system.
How is product cost calculated?
Product cost consists of material (FIFO/weighted average), registered labour time at the work centre hourly rate and the overhead rate of the work centre. The closing variance is recognised in profit or loss.
Can work be registered on the shop floor?
Yes. In the Saldofy mobile app an operation can be started by scanning, marked as done and the labour time logged — without walking to a computer.
Does the module support serial numbers and quality control?
Yes. Serial numbers are generated when finished goods are received, labels are printed with a barcode, and control points and non-conformities are part of the same workflow.
